With the shortage of tradesmen in the Building trades, what can be done to promote construction as a pathway to gainful employment? In the early 1980's (in my youth) I grew up in Trotwood Ohio. We had the option of attending a vocational school the last two years of high school. Many of the graduates went on to work in the building trades. While many school districts no longer offer this path as part of their curriculum, it is still a good first step to a good paying job. So what other paths exist? Community colleges, Job Corp, and other non-profits like WRTP / Big Step could be a part of the solution to creating Tradesmen while also addressing in small part the affordable housing crisis.
